Nutrico
was founded 15 years ago to market sports nutrition to bodybuilders under the Performance brand
name.
The company became a valuable, long-term player on the domestic market thanks to its wide range
and specialist knowledge of its market.

In 2005, it was taken over by the Belgian pharmaceutical
company, Besins Healthcare, who wanted to invest in the nutritional sector, which was booming by
that time, in addition to their pharmaceutical activities all over the world.
Nutrico, market leader in Belgium, is sold today in 25 European countries and is going to expand
very soon into the Arabic and ASPAC (Asian Pacific) countries.
Nutrico’s slogan Quality is our Priority has never changed over the years
and became even more important in the past few years.
In 2007, Nutrico already had a firm foundation to build on, thanks to the wide range of products
that included supplements, liquids, drinks and bars. The main customers were the heavy users from
the worlds of body-building and fitness. This was partially due to the packaging’s black,
hard-core look.
In order to appeal to a wider target group of both professional and recreational athletes, Nutrico’s
products were divided into three segments, each with their own recipes, look and sub-branding.
After two years of hard work, Nutrico is ready to reap the fruits of their labour. The clear
segmentation of “Performance – Nutrition for Athletes”, “ Performance
- Sports Nutrition” and “UP – Urban
Power” provides the customers a clear in depth view of the total program that Nutrico offers.
In 2008 Nutrico also carried out a host of innovations in the comprehensive range known as Performance
and Urban Power that is now available to everyone engaged in sport, from professionals to curious
recreational athletes.
The nutritional supplement sector has to deal with a lot of preconceptions about the effectiveness
and legitimacy of its products. Nutrico wants to get rid of these preconceived notions by imposing
the strictest quality standards on itself and rigorously adhering to prevailing legislation. Nutrico
produces all their products on the basis of powders and capsules, so not only can they react flexibly
to the market and price their products competitively, they can also monitor the quality themselves.
“Quality is our Priority" means that every claim made about the working and effectiveness
of each product is 100% truthful. Our customers are clearly given “value for money”.
Furthermore, our products are 100% safe. In fact, Nutrico is not afraid of the strict inspections
from the Federal Agencies for the Safety of the Food Chain. On the contrary, as stipulated by
law, all products from Nutrico, containing vitamins, minerals, plant extracts, and/or added amino
acids carry an official and verifiable notification number. This is vouched for by our regulatory
specialist.
Nutrico can also confidently claim that all their products are free of doping. This is an absolute
requisite for any company whose clients include top athletes. Each and every one of Nutrico’s
suppliers must produce a certificate stating that none of the raw materials contain ingredients
that appear on the list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). On top of the above, our products
are regularly controlled by an external lab.
Nutrico guarantees the people using their products, of the best possible results because they
only work with the very best raw materials. Nutrico has co-branding agreements with suppliers
who can prove that they have the most efficient products currently available.
For the future, there are also plans to develop the health segment, closely working together
with our sister companies in France and the USA, but the main impetus for growth comes from expansion
into the world of cycling due to its international character.
This year, Performance became the sponsor of the Silence-Lotto cycling team, which will
most definitely contribute to achieve the goals that are set forward.
